One of the best airport in the world has gotten better with the opening of Jewel Changi/Mall. The newest Singapore attraction that offers recreation (Nature, Play and Retail) It is located in the middle of Changi airport terminal 1,2 & 3 – interconnected via link bridge.

Jewel Changi has 10 floors (5 storeys above-ground and 5 basement storeys. ) On 10th floor you can find a man made mini forest with thousands of trees and flowers from all over the world and wherein the “World’s largest indoor Waterfall so called “Rain Vortex” a 40 meters tall is located. During at night you will get mesmirized of the Rain Vortex transform into light and sound show that will start from 07:30pm to 12:30am hourly interval.

You can  enjoy a Discovery Slide for adults and kids. Also you can have an adventure walking and bouncing in the net at the Canopy Park. And there’s more to enjoy like Mirror Maze creating an illusion of endless bowers before you. These are not officially open but opening very soon.

Get tired and hungry having fun? No problem. Jewel has total 280 exciting retails to shop and F&B outlets that you can indulge both local favourites to international cuisine.

Jewel has more to offer. It has a Hotel & lounges, aviation facilities like early checkin/bag drop counter and more.

So have a long layover or delayed flight? No worries. You can de-stress and venture out of the transit area to explore Jewel.

Dangerous Goods

I found something new in my work station today. A small “standee” is placed on top of every check-in counters with a signage of Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) for passengers’ travelling.

Dangerous goods are anything – could be a  materials, solids, liquids and gasses which, if not properly controlled or if misuse could hurt or harm human, property or environment.

The DGR card mentioned specifically the carriage of lithium battery.  Spare lithium batteries (e.g power banks,) lithium battery contained in personal electronic device (e.g underwater lamp) and personal transportation device such as hover board, mini-segway, etc) which is more than 160wh or more than 8g lithium content are not allowed to carry on board nor check-in due to the danger they pose, the cell inside the battery may create short-circuit or overheat that spark off a small fire that may lead to a bigger one.

However, portable electronic devices that contain lithium batteries such as ipads, laptops and smart devices are allowed in checked-in and hand carry luggage.

Other spare non lithium batteries can be  hand carry provided that it is in the original packaging or place in its own protective case.  If not, should tape or cover the battery’s side metal parts (terminals) to protect it from short-circuit or damage.

Aside of batteries, the DGR card also shows some prohibited items that are not also allowed to check-in or carry on board such as flammable liquids, oxidizing materials, electro shock weapon, poison, infectious substance & etc.

If passengers failed to declare dangerous goods/prohibited items, it  may result in civil or criminal penalties.

One thing i found the new “standee” good is the “notice” on top of the DGR card which says

“This area is monitored by surveillance cameras with video and audio recording for safety, security and quality control purposes.”

Sometimes we face very arrogant and rude passengers. If we cannot give aisle seat, seat together, spare seat, baggage excess  and etc. they will shout on our face, point fingers at us, curse and some may even hurt the staff physically ( but thank God I have not encountered one yet). And the funny thing some passengers lie, create stories and warn us to see them in court.

So I think the “notice” is very good. Both passengers and staff may become very careful on how we act or what we say.  This could be used for evidence, for any legal matters.

Be safe & secure. Don’t pack dangerous goods when you travel. Always follow the guidelines and be kind.

Changi Dollar Vouchers

Every quarter of the year, Changi Airport Group (CAG) is giving away a Changi Dollar Voucher to all frontline staff of Changi airport in recognition of our excellent service rendered on previous months and for meeting the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) survey. The voucher can be used to purchase any items to all participating shops and restaurants of Changi Airport.

It feels great that our hard work have been recognized and rewarded. Thus, it motivate and inspire us to give the best possible service to each and every passenger. Changi airport aim to create experiences people would not expect or forget, to give travelers a good impression of the airport which has been voted and won several times the title of “World’s Best Airport” that give honor and pride to their country – Singapore.

Changi Airport is my second home. I’m glad to be a part of it. Every staff is cared and valued and every passenger that enters in the airport is not just a passenger but a welcome guest. Indeed, Changi airport is the best no.1 airport in the world. Thank you Changi Airport Group. Good job and keep it up! Your voucher helped a lot.

 

Christmas at Changi Airport

Changi International Airport (Singapore) is the no.1 Best airport in the world. Changi Airport serves more than 100 airlines. It is the main stopover point of  many airlines connecting Singapore to over 60 countries worldwide with over two million passengers annually. Changi Airport is a huge airport, very clean, organized and has incredible facilities and amenities like butterfly Garden, Sunflower Garden, rooftop pool, movie theaters, hotels, spas, and even a children’s playground including four-story slide. Changi airport is also an Airport Mall with lots of shops and boutiques, supermarket, restaurants and more. No surprise Changi Airport took the number one spot for the best and most awarded airport in the world.

The Airport has three interconnected terminals that are accessible by skytrain. And aside from the 3 terminals, there is also a special terminal for Low Cost Carrier Airlines which called “Budget Terminal” that is under renovation right now. And rumors says another terminal is coming up. Changi Airport never stops upgrading the airport to give best experience for the travelers during their stop at Changi.

Every year Changi Aiport is following it’s popularity of celebrating every holiday seasons just like (Chinese New year-for Chinese, Hariraya-for Malay, Depawali-for Indians and Christmas for Christians). But Christmas year-end celebration is the most exciting one because of it’s inspired Theme. And this year I salute the Theme idea – World Disney.

Traveling during holiday season especially when you are alone is quite depressing. But Changi airport is making ways to delight passengers and make you feel the festive season even though you are away from home.

Just like the Magical Winter Wonderland in the Departure Hall of terminal 3 brings happiness to its passengers and visitors. Make every passengers forget their stress and loneliness.

The Christmas Snow Globe

It attract passengers and visitors with its dazzling decorations display and amazing “light & Sound with storyline Show” with snow flakes droplets. The show plays every hour start from 05:00pm ’till 09:00pm (weekdays) and (weekends) hourly from 01:00 pm to 03:00 pm then 06:00 pm to 09:00 pm .

Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse

No need to fly to Disneyland to see Mickey and Minnie Mouse. They are at Changi Airport Terminal 2 Departure Hall delighting passengers. Everyone – kids, adult, gentleman, lady, grandma, grandpa and business man couldn’t resist of not taking pictures when seeing them. Mickey & Winnie are seem real having a big concert where people are get entertained.

Changi Airport never runs out of idea. Every year different inspired themes. I’m am lucky and honored to be a part of changi Airport. For almost four years now my life revolves only at Changi Airport and I’m happy proud and happy working at Changi!  I love Changi.
