Cebu City, Philippines Tour

My job interview was getting closer so I had to fly ahead of time to Cebu City. I treated my sisters and my niece to accompany me to have a source of courage and support and at the same time to spend time together. It was indeed a good sisters’ bonding moment for us though it was a short and tiring trip but we enjoyed it a lot. It was all our first time visit to Cebu City and we found it a very nice and beautiful place.

Thanks God we landed at Cebu City very safe for the weather was not good and the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration or PAGASA forecasted a typhoon in our place  to come anytime soon.

We just had a very limited time so we made the most out of it. The moment we reached Cebu and checked-in to hotel where we booked our stay, we took a little rest and right away started the tour.

First, we climbed to the mountain top with the good set of stairs leading us to the Taoist Temple. The temple was built by a Chinese community in Cebu for the taoist worshippers a place to pray. It is where they believe the place to pray to the gods to grants one’s wish. The place was so beautiful with the scenic view of the downtown of Cebu. It becomes one of the famous tourist spots in Cebu City. It has chapels, function hall, library, souvenir shop and a wishing well. It’s worth climbing on top of the mountain.

Before the run day close, we also visited the oldest and smallest Fort in the Philippines- the fort San Pedro. It is now a museum-park where Spanish artifacts, documents, paintings, sculpture, sword fragments, cannons are displayed.

We ended the day with a dinner and immediately went back to the hotel where we stayed. All of us were so tired and wanted rest. My sisters slowly fell asleep while me got busy preparing for my interview the next day. I read book, review my job knowledge and prayed.

Here comes the day! I got up early to pray and bathed. Oh God, I was so nervous. Me, my sisters and my lucky charm-niece went to the hotel venue for the interview. It took quite long time for me waited to be interviewed for I came  early prior to the time advised. It is better to be early than late.

Due to nervous and lack of confidence to myself I didn’t able to answer all the questions well but I didn’t lose hope though. I leaned on my faith and trust that God will take charge of the result. While waited for the result, we went to Basilca Del Sto. Nino Church. The Basilica is a place of prayer and pilgrimage of hundreds of thousands of Catholic Christians.

After few hours the agency contacted me and was telling that I was a preselected and I need to report for briefing and contract signing the next day morning. What a great joy I felt. It is really true that nothing is impossible with God if we only believe. I gave back the glory and honor to Him. We went home very enjoyed, successful and safe. The typhoon swerved her way to different direction. God was and is always at control. He took care of everything. Praise the Lord.

New Career Opportunity

I got a phone call from Service On Line agency- an overseas recruitment agency looking for an applicant who wants to work abroad. They got some of my information and contact details through www.workabroad.ph where I signed in. Work Abroad is a Philippine manpower pooling site for the top recruitment agencies in the Philippines accredited by Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).

The agency called to inform me that they have a job vacancy that fits for my qualification and asked me if I’m willing to be scheduled for an interview by the employer in Cebu City – an hour by plane from my place. I didn’t hesitate to say “yes” I had to take the risk for this is a good opportunity for me to a get new, better job. If God permits I will be working at the Airport in Singapore as a Frontliner Officer. I get excited for I know it will give me more exposure and new challenging experience. If ever I get the job, it would be my 3rd time to work outside my country. I got my first worked in Dubai United Arab Emirates for 3 years and previously at Sulatanate of Oman for 2 years. I am more excited with this job because since childhood I have been fascinated to work in an airline industry and besides Singapore is just nearby to my country. I can go home easily.

After I resigned from my work immediately I flew back home. This time it was a good and happy trip for me because it was the first time I traveled with company, my sister. My sister who is working in Africa went home for a vacation. We colluded to keep her vacation secret to our family to surprise them all. We took same date and same flight heading to Philippines and we met on our stop-over in Abu Dhabi. It was a long tiring journey but I and my sister had too much fun in the plane though. It feels like heaven and tiredness and sleepiness turned to big smiles and rant once we landed and saw our beloved family standing outside the airport. Everyone indeed got surprise for my sister’s coming and of course they were so happy seeing me back again for it’s been very long time we were away from each other. Now I’m finally home.

There is no really place like home.

We didn’t waste the precious time God had given to us, the opportunity of being together so we made some bondings. Since, it was summer time so our trip was to go in a cold and refreshing places such as Enchanted River which is famous for its mysterious depth and deep sky blue color, Emaar’s wave pool and Panas Falls. I, we have enjoyed the trip a lot. I can’t believe that I have never seen those lovely places before. What a beautiful and wonderful God’s creations that has to be visited. How great thou art.

To be with your family makes Life more Beautiful!!!

Here comes my most awaited day here abroad. It’s seems the time is running too fast for me now. I have just one day left and my contract will be over. I have enjoyed my tenure and I appreciate having had the opportunity to work with my company. From the managers to the staff they have supported, guided, and encouraged me during my time employed. I learned and gained a lot of experiences.  Eventhough I will miss my work and my colleagues, I’m happy to leave and go back home. Im so thankful to God that I survived and  able to finished my 2 years work contract and for keeping me safe, away from harm.  I am looking forward to a new challenge and to start a new beginning of my life. Wish me good luck!

Party, party! It was the first day of the year so we celebrated it. Everyone was on duty while me, my sister and my other two colleagues who were off that day were too busy cooking. The New Year’s Eve party started at around 02:00 am for some of my colleagues finishes their jobs that late. We made a tossed; we sang, danced and laughed after we shared the Noche Buena. We made our New Year happy in a simple way despite of the feelings that we’re missing our families. We can’t still deny the fact that we’re miles away from them. The sacrifices we made are for them only. Wishing everyone a Happy and prosperous New Year. God bless us all.

Oman Tour

Welcome to Oman, sis! My sister has arrived already. Thank God He took care of everything for my sister’s visit. My manager allowed me to take 10 days vacation despite of the busy days at work. What a perfect Holiday for both of us. We did nothing but to enjoy, having fun making tours.

First day of tour: City Tour

We got up early to catch the Grand Mosque visiting hours (08:00am-11:00am). We hired a Hotel taxi to drive us around the City. The driver took us to the grand Mosque. Wow! The mosque is so big and so beautiful, with awesome decorations and designs.  It is the biggest mosque in Oman.  Right after from grand mosque, we drove through to Sultan’s Palace, to forts, to Al Zubair Museum, and lastly to  Mutrah corniche and souq (a tourist market). We ended the tour with a lunch in the restaurant and went back to our accomadation.

2nd day of tour: Coastline trip

Coastal tour, dolphin watching and snorkeling was our trip for the day. Me and my sister were a little bit disappointed of this trip coz  aside of our camera’s battery got empty after sometime, we were not lucky enough to see many dolphins as what we were expecting but unfortunately it’s by chance to see them. We saw one very far away from us. But on the other hand, we didn’t expect that we will see lots of overlooking views from the ocean (forts, hotels, mountains & etc).

3rd day: Rest

4th day of tour: Christmas Eve @ the Church

It’s Christmas time in the City. Oman is a Muslim country but still there’s churches for Christians to go. Me and my sister celebrated Christmas Eve at Saint John Paul church together with some of my colleagues. Everyone was shivering for the coldness of the night, we’re all wearing short dresses and none of us brought a jacket. On the other hand, I was so happy and thankful to God for making one of my dreams come true. I really thanked Him for the wonderful time He gave us. It’s a blessing indeed.

Last day: Full day tour at Nizwa

It was the most tiring but more exciting tour. We hired two tour guides to drive us and make the tour with us. Nizwa was the capital of Oman before in the 6th and 7th centuries. It is about 165 km or one hour and half drive from Muscat the current capital city. Nizwa remains one of the most popular tourist attractions today with its old and historical buildings, Forts and Mountains. We first visited the Nizwa Fort. It was a very huge and amazing fort. After seeing the entire fort directly we proceeded to Mt. Tanuf, then to Falaj Daris (a water irrigation from the mountain that supplies water to the entire village). Half day was over. For a while we stopped and recharged our energy by having lunch at one of the famous Omani restaurants in Oman “Bin Ateeq Restaurant”. After we get full, we drove to Jabrin Castle then lastly visited “Al Hootah Cave”. It was whole day of  fun. I really enjoyed it. Our tour guides were so very good and kind. The service we got from them was more than the price we paid for. Job well done!

Now who will tell me it’s not the best holiday ever?

Sister’s Visa approved!

My sister who is also working abroad in Africa called me up and was telling me that she wanted to take her Christmas and New year holidays with me in Oman. Oh my God, how happy I was to hear that one. It is my secret dream to bring atleast one of my family members to the country where I work to be with me and to let them see the beauty of the country. Right after our conversation, I immediately inquired about the requirements for visa processing. I heard that it is not easy to get a visa for her since my work is not in managerial position (Immigration officer might think I can’t afford to assist her stay) and my sister is single (Officer will consider the possibility that might my sister will seek for  an employment). We prayed hard until one friend of mine suggested me to ask some help from my boss. Without any hesitation I went to my general manager’s office the next day and I spoke with him asking help regarding with my sister’s visa. Boss was so kind enough without any doubt he told me to ask his secretary to fill up the form. I did it and I completed all the requirements being asked with me. Just 2 weeks after my sister’s visa was released. The visa is approved! What a great joy and excitement I felt. It was showing in her visa that my company is her sponsor. Thank you so much Boss! I got the visa without any effort and very quick and 70% less compare if I buy to the travel agency. See you soon my dear Sister.

By God’s gracious providence I am now  healed. No more tears, loneliness and worries. Everything is fine now. I know He worked a way I didn’t see but I felt it.  I felt his warm embrace during those times I cried out for comfort and bringing my emotional pain to  Him. It was just like magic,  suddenly I felt alright. Just one touched of  His Hand and all the  pain are gone.

I can make a difference

I got a call from an old egyptian friend last night. I met him in Dubai. He used to be my father, my clown during those saddiest moments, my crying shoulder and someone I can lean on.

During our conversation He said something that  overwhelms my soul. He said ” Everyday He remembers me for he saw the difference in me  compare to girls he met specifically to all Filipina  he knew.  He told me to remain godly, extraordinary and righteous. It’s a great honor that my light shines on him, that he sees the light, the difference in me. It’s a great balm for  all the tease and persecutions I’ve got for being different from others.

By nature, we want people to like us especially in a foreign land, to have friends and  companion, and the safest way  to do is to blend in. But I chose not to blend in but to bring the difference of our God to  my collegues though it was not easy for me. It is a lil bit uncomfortable and sacrificial.

Oman, Here I come!

Atlast after long hours of travel with Etihad Airways it’s now over. I arrived in Muscat Oman International Airport at 10:45 am. The Pulic Relation Officer picked me up and brought me directly to the Office. It took only a while introducing myself to them and vise versa and they sent me right away to the accommodation which is just so very close to the Hotel.

moto_06611I appreciated them so much the way they welcome me. They prepared a bottles of water, beddings, towel, basket of fruits & welcome letter in my bed.

MY FRIST DAY:
Inevitably can’t kept  tears from falling.  I felt like I was in the wilderness, so lonely & broken,  don’t know where to go, don’t know where to turn, nothing to do but to go on , crying  & counting the days. I have nothing but Hope. Hope that one day I would find a companion and find the way back home. Sometimes I could say that money could not pay to the loneliness I have encountered. Better to work & stay in my own country eventhough I will earn not that much compare on how much I will earn abroad, atleast I am happy and not lonely. I decided then  might this will be my last time.

@ Work

We made a Hotel Tours from Muscat to Al Madinah Holiday Inn Hotel branch on my first day of training. I thanked God I enjoyed it. I forgot one day of sorrow. I enjoyed seeing the overlooking rock  mountains and ocean and I enjoyed taking picture to myself…he..he…I am nervous but in the same time excited  for I am going to have a training in Front Office -Reception,  Reservation, Housekeeping and F&B.  It’s good for me because I know I will gain knowledge &  will learn many things from it.
